To Preschool or Not to Preschool
​Why social-emotional development is so important
Between the ages of 3 and 5, a child's brain is developing rapidly- especially the parts responsible for emotions, relationships, and self-control. This is the ideal time to teach children how to recognize their feelings, manage frustration, share with others, and build healthy friendships. These skills might seem small, but they are actually the foundation for everything that comes later-how children learn in school, how they solve problems, and how they relate to others throughout their lives.
Research shows that children with strong social-emotional skills do better academically, have fewer behavior problems, and are more confident and resilient. And if a child is struggling, preschool is the best time to provide
support-early intervention can make a big difference and help prevent long-term issues.
So, when we invest in social-emotional learning at the preschool level, we're not just helping kids "get along." We're giving them tools that will help them succeed in school, build strong relationships and live emotionally healthy lives.
